Book It Program

This year our classroom is participating in the BOOK IT! Program to encourage your child to find the joy in reading. The mission of the program is to turn "have to read" into "want to read" and the only way to get better at reading is to take the time to do it! From October to March, I will be awarding your child with a certificate from Pizza Hut for one child size free pizza for completing the reading for the whole month. Please set aside daily reading time at home and sign and return the reading log the following day. You can also be a role model and showcase how reading is a daily part of life-cookbooks, magazines, comics, newspaper, instructional manuals, etc.

Back to School 2018-2019

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It has been almost a month in 4th grade and students have been super busy. We spent 15 days getting to know each other, reviewing and practicing routines and procedures, finishing chapter one math and taking our first test, reading a variety of books, visiting Anatola library and borrowing our first two books, and taking a reading assessment to find our our independent reading level.

We are still assessing for DIBELS to find out everyone's fluency and comprehension scores. Scores will be shared at the parent conferences.

Students have been also learning how to log in to various websites since there has been many changes. More information will be shared at Back to School Night.

I am looking forward meeting each one of you on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 5:30pm in room 27 and sharing further and more detailed information.

Sincerely,

Mrs. McIntosh
